Fethiye is located by the hillside of the Mount Mendos which is a part of the Toros Mountain. Fethiye has hot and sunny days in summer, rainy and warm days in winter. Fethiye is among the important tourism centres of Turkey with its natural beauties. The town is famous with its art works belonging to Persians, Lyciansa, Carians and Romans. The ancient name of Fethiye is Telmessos. Telmessos used to be a coastal city at the borders of Lycia-Caria. According to the first written records, although there is no definite information about the foundation of the ancient city, the city dates back to the 5th century BC. |
