Fethiye Museum: The museum consists of two halls, Archaeology and Ethograpy Halls. Ceramic works and statues are located in the archaeology hall. In Ethnography hall, hand woven works, silver jewellery and dastar (head scarf) loom are exhibited.
Gemiler Island: On the island, churches, chapels and civilian buildings of Byzantium Period can be seen. The boats leave from Oludeniz and Gemiler Bay.
Araxa: The distance between Fethiye and Araxa is 40km. This natural water spring has been the subject of mythological stories.
Tlos: The distance between Fethiye and Tlos is 45km. Tlos is one of the big cities of the Lycian Federation. This is where the mythological hero Bellerophon and his flying horse Pegasus lived.
Letoon: The distance between Fethiye and Letoon is 55km. It is the religious centre of the Lycia Federation.
Pinara (Minare Village): It is located on the foothills of Mount Akdag which is 55km away from Fethiye. This is one of the most biggest cities of Lycia Federation. Pinara is known as the city where the first beauty contest is held. The temple of Aphrodite takes attention because of its unusual architectural style.
Cadianda:It is 25km away from Fethiye. It is the last city that joined in the Lycian Federation.
Kayakoy: It was the settlement region of the Greeks in the 14th century. The ancient name of the village was Levissi. According to the agreement of population exchange signed between Turkish and Greek governments in 1922, Greeks living in Kayakoy were exchanged with the Turks living in Greece.
Lycia Rock Tombs: Fethiye takes attention with its 4th century works of art remaining from Lycia period. Among them, tombs, carved out on natural rocks became the symbol of the region. Amintas is the most elaborate one among them.
Oludeniz (Blue Lagoon): It is described as 'the Edeb bestowed by God to the world'. It has a 3 km long beach. Oludeniz is undeniable with its light and dark blue colour, combined with light and dark green.
Butterfly Valley (Kelebek Vadisi): It is 7km away from Oludeniz. This canyon is surrounded by 350 meter high mountains. The name Butterfly Valley comes from the butterflies called as 'Jarsey Tiger' and seen between June and September. |
